Team Fit Girl, Fit Mom, Fit Bride

Before working out my life was one of a not so active individual who worked over night shifts and ate accordingly. Fast food restaurants became my breakfast, lunch, dinner and even snack. It was horrible. I was sleeping 10 to 12 hours a day and waking up with zero energy. One would think that after sleeping that long you could run a marathon right? Well, not me, and I felt myself falling deeper and deeper into a hole that only became that much harder to crawl out of. I felt hopeless, worthless and past the point of no return. My self-esteem continued to wither away, and the more I harped on it and gained this full time feeling of sadness and hurt, the more I turned to food as my addiction for comfort.

As a Law Enforcement Officer, my results affected my job tremendously. Statistics suggest that police officers have increased risk of premature death and may be more vulnerable to certain diseases, thus increasing the importance of implementing a fitness routine and living a healthy lifestyle. The results that I have acquired from Team Fit Girl, Fit Mom, Fit Bride are officer confidence, morale, less work related injuries, reduced amount of sick time used and most importantly of all the ability to handle oneself in a violent confrontation.

There is a strong relationship between physical fitness and police officers performing at their optimal levels, on and off the streets. The best feeling in the world is being able to get geared up for work. What does this mean, one may ask? Bending over to tie my strings on my boots without breathing heavy, and without feeling like I have a 20 pound medicine ball pushing against my chest for the entire work night. Even something as simple as being able to sit in a patrol vehicle with my gun belt on and not feel uncomfortable because I cannot move and I feel so bloated in uniform that I want to explode. Remember, besides our own body weight, our equipment adds about 20 pounds total- so you get my drift.

This team transformed not only my body, but my mind. I know and can proudly say that being in this group completely transformed my life in a short amount of time. In today’s society of one of the fastest growing social problem, The quickest, most helpful and cost effective way is to continue to promote Team Fit Girl, Fit Mom, Fit Bride. It is as simple as that. No gimmicks, no excuses!!

Currently I have established a wellness culture in my organization as well as others I may come in contact with, making officers want to participate instead of forcing them to. Constantly adhering to a healthy lifestyle and behavior has paid great dividends and I expose this message daily. Having a complete, on-going physical fitness program in place assures that individuals from all occupations and walks of life will be more productive, while reducing injuries, absenteeism and diseases.

Thank you with all my heart for the dedication and support you have all shown me. It has helped me grow not only physically, but mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I have met so many wonderful people through this group and absolutely LOVE the positivity of this Team and Coaches (especially my girl Chantel). I want to continue to help inspire others to understand that with the right tools and just BELIEVING in yourself there is no limit to what you can do.
